THE VOYCES: News

On Saturday, June 14th, singer/songwriter Dave Doobinin hosted an unforgettable evening at The Chapel in Sea Gate, (Coney Island) Brooklyn. The Chapel was built in 1901 and sits meters from the Ocean and Norton’s point lighthouse. No longer used for services, the chapel felt magical, and had an intimate, ambient setting complete with candle light, rugs, and complementary wine and beer. The night's performers: Dave Doobinin (and his incredible band), Tara Angell, Briana Winter, Kat, Black Bunny, & The Voyces. (Acoustic inside and electric out: Mother Nature contributed with sheets of rain and enormous amounts lightning.) The entire occasion was so spirited and memorable from start to finish that this posting is really just a heartfelt 'thank you' to Dave Doobinin for arranging it all. The Voyces have been busy with more promotion of their critically acclaimed LP "Kissing Like It's Love" - the band is gearing up for additional West coast dates next month. On top of that, they will be releasing the next single. Here is a quick look at the exclusive digital EP "Top Of My Lungs" which will drop late Spring/early Summer 2008 - available via i-Tunes, emusic and other digital distros worldwide.


The EP features four previously unreleased tracks from the Voyces vaults. The title track to their LP, "Kissing Like It's Love" is presented here in it's ultra poppy single mix, while electric rocker "Bliss" is probably new to everyone. The EP is rounded out with ace acoustic/demo versions of familiar tracks: "Durant Avenue" (featuring great harmonies from Jude Kastle and Brian Wurschum) and "Call It Home" (a demo version performed by Brian).

Our recent west coast tour was a blazing success. The support from Voyces fans in both California and Oregon was overwhelming, and we thank all of those who came out to see us live and show their love. If any of us were into writing blogs, we would have some mesmerizing stories for you to read. But, well, we don't blog. But we remember. And thanks.

Music from The Voyces will be featured in the upcoming indie film, "Say Hello To Stan Talmadge."
The film, starring Gary Cole and Jennifer Coolidge, will be released in 2008.

On May 22nd, The Voyces performed in Thousand Oaks, California (Brian's hometown). The entire set, which included Angels Of Fun, Kissing Like It's Love, Humming, Top Of My Lungs, and Relate To Me, was recorded and may be released on CD later this year. It would have been a great time to play an old 'majority DOG' song or two, yet none were performed.

Beginning this month, throughout all of Canada, our song "Relate To Me" will appear in a Toyota commercial. (For this reason, both English and French versions of the song's lyrics are posted on this site.) The ad's narrator is from the popular surfing film "Step Into Liquid."

The horrid weather seemingly prevented no one from coming to see us tonight. If you were one of the many people who trudged through snow and ice and wind to attend, thank you. What a great night.

This weekend the cameras will roll, as, for the first time ever, The Voyces make a video for one of their songs. The song for which the video is being made is the title track on their upcoming album 'Kissing Like It's Love.'
Why the long wait to make a music video?

Last night's benefit for The Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance surpassed our expectations. Thank you to all of the people who donated their time, money, and love. The plan is to organize an event for FARA about four times a year, and this kicked everything off with a real bang. (Over $2,000 raised)

The first album of brand new music from The Voyces in over three years is almost ready. "Kissing Like It's Love" is scheduled for wide release in Spring, 2007 (on Planting Seeds Records). It will also mark the official entrance of new band members Jude Kastle, Steve Dawson and Eric Puente.
